April Rainbow Bridge

Leo and Rocco

Our beloved Leo crossed the Rainbow Bridge April 6, at the age of 13.  I adopted Leo from MWCR back in 2005; back then he was known as Prancer.  Not only did I rescue Leo, but I like to say that he rescued me.  I was already approved for adoption when I saw him pop up on the website and I immediately knew he was meant to be with me.  He was a loyal friend and constant companion.  Back in 2005, I was a single guy living in Crystal.  Today, I am married with an eight-year old son living in suburban Chicago.  From the day we brought our son Jake home from the hospital, Leo knew he had a job to do and he did it faithfully every day.  He was Jake’s friend, brother and protector.

Leo had a lifelong dog brother, Rocco, a Boston Terrier who we lost last November to cancer.  In the months that followed, Leo really went downhill without his pal.  He seemed lost.  Ultimately, his body failed him and we had to make the decision to end his suffering.  Attached are some pictures I wanted to share to say thank you for bringing Leo into our lives.  Keep doing your good work; I am forever grateful. – Alex Novak

Holly, our 2016 Calendar Cover Girl passed away today at home suddenly. She was 13 1/2 years old. She will be missed dearly.
