December adoptions

By Sarah Rebernick, Adoption Coordinator

Sweet Sage, a sable male has been adopted and will be living in Illinois. Just two years old, he has lived most of his life as a neglected collie, kept outside in the yard with only a dominant male collie as a companion. He was rarely spoken to and was taught no commands or manners. Although no one played with him, this sweet boy has maintained a loving, happy personality.

Sage definitely came a long way in his foster home – he learned his house manners, how to walk on a leash and ride well in a car and even likes to help with the dishes. About the only thing that isn’t looking up for Sage is that he has some chronic tummy trouble, but his new mom and dad know that this bundle of love is worth the extra effort his condition requires. Sage is a wonderful collie as sweet and beautiful as his face, and now he has his own family to love him.

Beautiful Brandy, a, 1.5 yr blue merle female has been adopted and will be living in Iowa. Unlike Sage, this sweet girl has always had a loving home but after she and her owner were attacked by a mastiff one night they were both left suffering from PTSD. Brandy became quite anxious and reactive and Mom didn’t have the physical strength or stamina to work through it. She also realized that she was passing her nervousness on to Brandy and believed a new environment was the best thing for her and sadly surrendered her to MWCR so she could get the help she needed.

While in foster Brandy has worked very hard to get past her fears and we’re all very proud of how far she’s come – she was even unfazed by a mastiff in her training class. Her new mom and dad will continue to provide the love, security and training that she needs and have the experience and patience to help her to get back on track. She also has a new little brother, a golden pup who already thinks she’s pretty fun!

Reamus, a 1.5-year-old tricolor male, has been adopted and will be living in Minnesota. This sweet boy came to MWCR after he was brought in as part of an Animal Control seizure in a neglect case. And neglected he was! Although he is a mid-sized collie, when he came in he only weighed 46 lbs. Despite his rough start, Reamus is a loving, affectionate young dog who craves human attention almost as much as he needed food. Due to the excellent care in his foster home he has been steadily gaining weight and getting the love and attention he deserves. In fact, he’s so loved that he will be joining their family permanently, so congratulations to our newest foster flunkies.
