With Gratitude

mwcr logoThe efforts of many, many people are needed to ensure the success of the Minnesota Wisconsin Collie Rescue in our work to take in, care for, and find loving homes for our collies.  Our volunteers, supporters, and friends make MWCR possible.  It is because of you that hundreds of collies have found new homes and have lived healthy, happy lives.

People support the organization in so many ways – following and commenting on our Facebook page; sharing pictures of their beautiful collies; volunteering at events and greeting those who stop by; spending countless hours fostering a collie; arranging transports and transporting scared dogs to their foster or forever homes; being on call 24/7, as many of our coordinators are, to take calls and make arrangements for collies in need; distributing donated dog food so our collies have healthy and nutritious food; working quietly behind the scenes on mass mailings or paying bills or calling adopters checking references or arranging foster homes or maintaining databases; donating special skills such as technical or artistic or journalistic talent; making financial contributions to cover our veterinary expenses; donating items to our silent auctions to raise funds; adopting collies from us; or simply being there supporting our much needed work.

It’s with great appreciation and gratitude that I and the collies thank all of you for the care, love, and support you give MWCR and our beautiful collies.  You are the heart of the Minnesota Wisconsin Collie Rescue. – Terry Libro, MWCR President

Happy New Year

mwcr logoIn 2016, we experienced the joy of finding new homes for our collies and welcoming new adopters and members to our MWCR family.  We also experienced the sadness of losing dear collies and members, dogs and people who will always be part of the fabric of MWCR.  As the new year begins, we remember those we’ve lost and look forward to the happiness of collies finding new homes and people finding happiness with their new four-legged family member.

December adoptions

By Sarah Rebernick, Adoption Coordinator
Fin

Fin

Petite beauty Fin, a 6-year-old mahogany sable female, has been adopted and will be living in Wisconsin. Fin was sadly surrendered to MWCR when they realized that a change in the family’s lifestyle was not a good fit for her needs. Fin will now be living with her new mom and dad and a senior MWCR alumni. She will definitely be getting lots of attention now and that will suit this little girl just fine 🙂

Lucy

Lucy

Sweet Lucy, an 8-year-old tricolor, was originally surrendered due to changing living conditions. She was adopted through MWCR, but sadly, her new parents passed away and Lucy found herself in need of another home. This easy-going girl now has a nice mellow home for her golden years and as an added bonus it comes equipped with her very own kitty. Everyone who meets her says that Lucy is the sweetest girl ever so we’re so happy for her!

Elvira

Elvira

Elegant Elvira, an 8-year-old mahogany sable, has been adopted and will be living in Minnesota. This lovely girl was originally adopted through MWCR when she was young and has had a wonderful home for the past seven years. Sadly, her parents passed away and she found herself in need of a new place. We knew we needed to find one that could give her all the love and companionship she was used to and I know she’s landed in just the right spot. When she met her new mom she put her head right in her lap and snuggled in for hugs 🙂 Congratulations to everyone concerned!

Penny

Penny

Pretty Penny, a 3-year-old sable-headed white, has been adopted and will be living in Wisconsin. This happy, friendly girl has been very loved for all of her life, but when her elderly mom became ill and unable to care for her they asked MWCR to help find Penny a new forever home. Her new dad lost his MWCR collie earlier this year and we know this bright, shiny Penny is ready to heal his heart and show him all that she’s learned about love.

Bullet

Bullet

Handsome Bullet, a 5-year-old collie mix, was originally adopted three years ago and came back to us when his adoptive mom passed away. Fortunately for all, he was able to go back to the same foster home he had then. His foster mom tells us that when he was there before he was still in his puppy phase and had chewed a little hole in the sleeve of a favorite fleece sweater that she likes to wear around the house on cold days. For three years, she thought of Bullet every time she wore it but now she’ll have more than memories because he is going to become a permanent member of their family. Congratulations to Bullet and his new forever family – seems like it was meant to be!

Sandy

Sandy

Sweet Sandy, an 8-10 year-old sable collie mix, has been adopted and will be living in Minnesota with her new MWCR brother and kitties. Sandy was surrendered to a shelter when her owner’s moved and they contacted MWCR.While in the shelter Sandy was diagnosed with Cushing’s disease and she began a regime that seems to be keeping her pretty happy. Everyone in her new family seems to be getting along well and this mellow, laid-back girl now has a wonderful forever home to enjoy her golden years.

Ro

Rosie

Beautiful Rosie, a 5-month-old tricolor, has been adopted and will be living in Illinois. Rosie is a very shy girl who was surrendered when it became apparent that her home was not the right fit for her personality. Rosie really enjoyed being with the resident dogs in her foster home and they helped her become more confident every day. Now she is in her new home with a couple canine siblings and a mom and dad with lots of collie experience. Congratulations to all of them!
