MWCR volunteers and collies had fun participating in two events in August. Dog Day Westonka, held on the shores of beautiful Lake Minnetonka outside of Minneapolis, is always a delightful event, and this year was no exception. Robin Kashuba with Harley and Kitty and Arnie Hilk with Tristan, Jackson, and Sammi charmed the crowd. They visited with a local community service officer, children, potential adopters, and Gary who is one of the organizers of the free dog food distributions. In fact, our collie ambassadors were so charming that MWCR was invited to participate in another pet event in September. Who can resist our sweet, cuddly collies!
Pause 4 Paws held an adoption event as part of Pet Day at the Sabes Jewish Community Center in St. Louis Park, Minn. Judy Roggow, Barb Gibson with Laddie and Emily, and Joan Hargrave and John along with their collie Danny volunteered at MWCR’s booth. This was Danny’s debut at our booth and he did so well. This was a new venue for MWCR so we met many new people and dogs. Even the hot, humid weather didn’t keep people or dogs from having a good time playing games, listening to a live band, watching a K-9 unit demonstration, and visiting all of the booths.

September will be a busy month for MWCR with events every weekend. MWCR will be at the Responsible Dog Ownership Day on September 10 in Lake Elmo, Minn.; the Collie Frolic in Madison, Wis. on September 11; Bark Park in Brooklyn Park, Minn. on September 17; Walk/Run Fur Love in Shakopee, Minn. on September 24, and the Love My Pet Fair in Coon Rapids, Minn. on September 25. If you’d like to volunteer at any of these events, with or without your dog, please contact Cat Olund, MWCR’s Volunteer Coordinator, at firstname.lastname@example.org. Volunteering is fun and a great opportunity to showcase your collie and meet fellow dog-lovers. Thank you to everyone who volunteers with MWCR!
