Over two years ago Mariah and four other collies were seized by animal control from a hoarding situation. Twelve year old Mariah was the Mom and in the worst shape. She was extremely underweight trying to compete with four young collies and one St Bernard for communal feeding. Her skin and coat were in terrible shape, with skin infections and bald spots. Mariah blossomed in the care of her foster home and she stayed with them as a permanent foster.
Today we received the sad that Mariah has gone to the Rainbow Bridge. Her mom shared this with us:
It is with a very sad heart that I need to let you know of Mariah’s death. The last couple of weeks she had been struggling to get up and walk, but with strong supplements and pain meds was able to manage. It became apparent last Saturday that she had lost the battle and could no longer enjoy life. Mariah was as beautiful and sweet as they come and was very determined to live life to its fullest. She is greatly missed by the entire household. Both I and the other dogs are really missing her, still expecting her to come around the corner as she had always done.
Mariah had so much to give to those around her and I feel grateful to have been the recipient of her friendship and love. I would like to thank Minnesota Wisconsin Collie Rescue for the honor of caring for Mariah the last few years!
I know all of us appreciate so much the love and care they gave her. I’m sure she realized how much they loved her and I can’t think of a better place for her to have spent her last years.
